Black Rock Mills

Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Colne Valley, Linthwaite, (known locally as Linfit), is a whole new community of 225 homes built on the site of former woollen industrial mills. The mills used water through a culverted watercourse for power which ran through the middle of the site but importantly is still the emergency drain down channel to Blackmoorfoot Reservoir at the head of the valley.

Upgrading the culverted watercourse and keeping it live required a significant amount of design and coordination with the EA and Yorkshire Water and significant site works.  Being in “the rolling hills” meant the ground level changed significantly across the site and so foundation solutions required smart thinking to provide a rapid development for the Developer. An award winning development that sold quickly and we were glad to work on it!
