The Spencer Grange development for Stonebridge Homes is perfectly located on the outskirts of Skipton at Hawbank Field with scenic views over the river valley to North Yorkshire and the Dales. The development comprised 137 traditional residential units across Hawbank Field which was a very complicated site both physically and technically with steep topography requiring a highly engineered solution.
Working with Stonebridge Homes, Dudleys developed a detailed externals, foundation and drainage strategy around a cut and fill model to bring sensible gradients across the site and to minimise earthworks. An extensive groundworks programme was undertaken to satisfy Building Control & Insurers whilst looking to minimise the need for features such as highways retaining walls for the local Highways Authority. Other Engineering challenge are hidden away with groundworks carried out to satisfy Network Rail for their tunnel crossing under the site.
The final phase of works will see new public open space opened up in the Skipton Moor river valley providing safe designated pedestrian routes to connect walkers to Skipton.
