Two 16 storey towers were completely refurbished requiring assessment of the historic concrete structures prior to the alteration upgrade to modern standards.
Sat in between these two towers, was a completely new 5 storey care development over the former railway embankment and crossing an existing major culvert.
As a result the building was fully piled, supporting a braced steel frame with composite floor deck at first floor. From this point the structural form changes to a lightweight ‘Fusion’ framing system for the upper floors with a roof garden terrace for residents. The building is to be finished with a combination of rain screen cladding and render.
