I am an experienced Civil and Structural engineer, having successfully completed professional reviews with both the ICE and IStructE. My experience stretches across a broad range of sectors from housing to the highly regulated nuclear power industry. I am equally capable at undertaking simple hand calculations as well as computer-based 3D structural analysis to suit the specific needs of the project in hand.
I have also taken on the role as ‘Health and Safety Manager’ and have taken the lead in ensuring we achieved H&S recognition in the form of CHAS accreditation in 2015 (which was successfully renewed in subsequent years). Within this role, I keep a constant watch on the requirements within the office and as members of staff visit site, ensuring that we meet and exceed the minimum legislative requirements for our staff. Regarding project delivery, I have undertaken the CITB ‘Principal Designer’ course and have regular input into the safety of designs we produce.
In addition, I am also a ‘Supervising Civil Engineer’ for our ICE training scheme, giving support and guidance particular to graduates within the office. Within this role I have also assisted the ICE in auditing submissions for the ‘Professional Review’. I have been active throughout my career in QA. Whilst at Arup I was trained and undertook internal Audits, I became ‘Quality Champion’ at BSCP (involved in rolling out a new policy to the office) and I am the ‘Quality Manager’ within Dudleys achieving, with the support of everyone within the company, ISO 9001 accreditation.
